This Job

The Manager of the Business Analysis and Portfolio Management team will lead a team of Project Managers and Business Analysts to achieve best in class systems analysis and implementation.   The Manager will interface with key stakeholders across the entire organization to intake, prioritize, define scope, benefit, and business processes.   The Manager is the sounding board to the IT team to mitigate requirement ambiguity while coaching the BA Team to achieve a best-in-class requirement gathering process.   The Manager will act as a player/coach, facilitating projects themselves as well as coaching the team. The Manager will actively manage the resource forecast, allocations to ensure alignment with the division budget and delivery of corporate strategic goals and objectives.

What You’ll Do

  • Oversee the intake, prioritization, planning, and implementation of technologies, processes, and systems to support the enterprise strategy
  • Develop roadmaps for new programs including the business case, implementation plans, resourcing, building consensus, prioritization and coordinating communications between cross-functional teams and external partners.
  • Coach and develop Project Managers and BA team to improve efficiency, quality, and processes as a team and create personal successes individually.
  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert in portfolio/program management, requirements gathering and other PM and BA skills, sharing information, trends and lessons learned with the team and others.
  • Support multiple parallel workstreams managing projects from kick off through implementation
  • Audit PM and BA deliverables and drive continuous improvement.
  • Lead as a business process expert and help the BA Team to achieve the same goal.
  • Become a Subject Matter Expert with AI product portfolio.
  • Partner with matrix managers to access opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Partner with business stakeholders and advise on system solution options, risks, and priorities.
  • Communicate effectively with business leaders to guide decision-making on solution options
  • Engage appropriate business resources to prioritize projects and update stakeholders on progress toward resolution.
  • Coordinate with vendor(s) to ensure proper documentation and priorities are communicated while monitoring progress towards resolution.
  • Coordinate on-site and vendor(s) team(s) on product releases and patches following an Agile methodology.
  • Develop new processes and tools to improve transparency and communication across teams and to scale the business.
  • Perform project planning and resource allocation to meet project milestones. Resources include internal staff and external consultants.
  • Oversee key projects and maintain/create project plans.

What You’ll Need to be a Top Candidate

Education:                            Bachelors Degree Required.

Experience:                         At least 5-7 Years of technology and/or PM/BA experience, preferably with a P&C insurance carrier.  Management experience required. 5-10 years of experience administering a policy administration system from an IT perspective is required.

Skills & Knowledge:         


  • Excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in policy administration system replacement and implementation.
  • At least 7 years of experience in ITS related management positions, with a demonstrated record of career advancement as indicated by increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Proven track record of leading, mentoring and coaching PMs and BAs.
  • Extensive insurance industry expertise.
  • Functional manager with Agile project execution expertise.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communicator.
  • Proven ability to collaborate across the entire organization with multiple stakeholders.
  • Able to manage multiple initiatives in a dynamic customer-facing environment.

Your Environment

Working Conditions: Normal business office environment.  Must be able to remain in a stationary position for periods of time while constantly operating a computer and or other office productivity machinery such as a calculator or telephone.  The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery or communicate with coworkers.


Travel: Minimum, as required.
