Title: Staff Accountant
You'll Report to: Manager, Financial Reporting
The Staff Accountant will have the responsibility of assisting the Manager of Financial Reporting with various monthly and quarterly reporting responsibilities. He/she will maintain accounting records, develop financial statements and reports, assist various entities in interpreting the financial reports, and assist in the preparation of financial reports for the executive team, the Office of Insurance Regulation, auditors, banking entities, and reinsurers.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business, or other related field from a four-year institution. The bachelor's degree is a minimum educational requirement for this position, and cannot be waived.
Experience:1 to 2 years in a staff accounting role, preferably in the property and casualty or life insurance industries. The ideal candidate will have familiarity with both GAAP and statutory accounting principles.
Skills & Knowledge:
Working Conditions: Normal business office environment. Must be able to remain in a stationary position for periods of time while constantly operating a computer and or other office productivity machinery such as a calculator or telephone. The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery or communicate with coworkers.
Travel: None required.
