    Title: Senior DBA


    The Senior Database Administrator (DBA) performs many related database functions across one or more teams or clients, including designing, implementing and maintaining new databases, backup/recovery, and configuration management. Candidate will be responsible for providing input for modification of procedures and updating documentation used for problem resolution and day-to-day maintenance.  The position is responsible for analysis, designing codes; testing, documentation, and maintaining software program applications/systems necessary to support end user functions.

    What You’ll Do

    • Installing, testing, and implementing database management systems and related products.
    • Ensuring databases are tuned for optimal performance and assisting with the development and use of current database. 
    • Ensuring recoverability and adequate disaster recovery of databases. 
    • Provides guidance and standards for maintenance and administration of on-line databases containing company and/or customer data to ensure a high degree of time up and access availability. 
    • Determines and provides for the documentation of tools, techniques, processes and procedures for orderly maintenance of databases including backup, archival, recovery, etc. 
    • Provides project leadership for various database initiatives and direction and guidance of database monitoring and space utilization and performance; designs and provides guidelines for requisite performance testing. 
    • Serves as a representative to internal and external forums for database problem resolution. 
    • Provides direction and guidance for creation, maintenance and administration of data dictionaries. 
    • Provides technical database direction for conversion of legacy systems to new relational database systems. 
    • Provides guidance and standards for designing, coding, testing, documenting, and executing development tools, procedures and other mechanisms relating to database maintenance. 
    • Acts as a consultant to senior level management as it relates to databases. 
    • Configure SQL Server monitoring utilities to minimize false alarms and troubleshoot service outages as they occur, including after-hours and weekends as needed. 
    • Designs and generates programs amenable for use by non-technical users given general guidance and instructions. 
    • Transfer data between different systems; manipulates data formats for system compatibility. 
    • Devises and writes computer programs to support business processes. 
    • Identify resource-intensive queries, suggest improvements and provide assistance with the improvement of query performance. 
    • Assists systems staff with day to day operational duties. 
    • Communications with other departments as needed to resolve any problems/questions. 
    • Assists with conversion from legacy applications to new relational database applications. 
    • Assists with implementation for large pre-developed systems. 
    • Performs other duties as assigned. 


    What You’ll Need to be a Top Candidate


    • Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or similiar. 



    • Minimum of five (5) years with SQL server system. 
    • Minimum of five (5) years with Application development experience of complex T-SQL stored procedures and SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS). 

    • Experience in developing a semantic data layer for easy access of business users.

    • P&C Insurance experience, preferred. 

    • Good analytical & problem-solving skills and interest in learning and applying new technologies.

    • Knowledge of relational database software technology and database environments. 
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills. 

    • Ability to program in SQL. 
    • Ability to effectively interact with employees at all levels of the organization. 

    • Ability to anticipate and resolve problems.

    Your Environment

    Working Conditions: Normal business office environment.  Must be able to remain in a stationary position for periods of time while constantly operating a computer and or other office productivity machinery such as a calculator or telephone.  The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery or communicate with coworkers.


    Travel: As required.
