    This Job: Risk Management Analyst


    You'll Report To: Risk Manager


    What You'll Do: The Risk Management Analyst (RMA) will collaborate with internal staff, vendors, the OIR and consultants. The RMA works Risk Manager and analyst staff to research new business opportunities, quantify and communicate existing exposure, and report on these exposures to internal groups, regulators and other stake holders. Success in this role will be measured not only by underwriting profit and policy growth, but also contributions to product improvement through innovative ideas. The individual will need strong analytical and communications skill and a curious, creative attitude.

    What You’ll Do

    You'll be Responsible for:

    • Analyzes and reports on loss trends including regular/monthly reports and ad-hoc requests.  Analysis should be reported on time and accurately and include summary of findings and recommendations for courses of action.
    • Analyzes and reports on other measures including cancellation/retention/attrition, NB production, NB quality, PIF quality and any other ad-hoc requests.  Analysis should be reported on time and accurately and include summary of findings and recommendations for courses of action.
    • Monthly modeling of all risks in commercial hurricane modeling softwares AIR and RMS. No previous experience required.
    • Portfolio analytics for reinsurance cost.
    • Profitability analysis by line, county and coverage.
    • Inspection criteria based on results.
    • Query and analyze large volumes of data from stores in various database formats.
    • Independently works on supporting new products and features.

    What You’ll Need to be a Top Candidate

    Education: College Degree in Actuarial Science, Risk Management, Insurance, or other technical degree.


    Experience: Two (2) to five (5) years of Florida Personal Lines experience as a Product Analyst, Pricing Analyst or Risk Analyst.


    Preferred certifications: Successful completion of CPCU or Actuarial exams preferred. AIR and / or RMS Certifications.



    • Analytical techniques and technical communication skills.
    • Strong organizational skills, including time management.
    • Demonstrated skills or past achievement to obtain desired results.
    • COGNOS, SQL, Oracle, AIR, Access and RMS preferred.
    • Superior Excel skills required.
    • Demonstrated ability to learn additional software applications as required.
    • Ability to present ideas and information in a clear, concise manner; gather information from multiple parties to ensure all perspectives are heard and considered; listen to others to respond effectively to ideas, thoughts and questions; express information and ideas effectively in settings including aligned or un-aligned feedback to obtain desired results. 



    • Ability to communicate interpersonally with individuals and groups via telephone and in writing. 
    • Ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of technical / professional / consumer clients. 
    • Ability to develop and maintain open and trusting working relationships with clients / agents in order to gather pertinent information.
    • Ability to balance timeliness and accuracy.
    • Ability to listen and communicate clearly while maintaining proper confidentiality. 
    • Strong decision-making and problem solving skills. 
    • Ability to innovate regarding methods and approaches to existing and future work processes.
    • Ability to be resourceful in information gathering and assess information for the best possible decision.

    Working Conditions: Normal business office environment.  Must be able to remain in a stationary position for periods of time while constantly operating a computer and or other office productivity machinery such as a calculator or telephone.  The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery or communicate with coworkers.


    Travel: Minimum, as required.
