    Title: Paralegal

     

    You'll Report to: Managing Attorney

     

    You'll Be Responsible For: The Paralegal will be responsible for case management, records review, trial preparation, and any other tasks in support of the American Integrity Litigation Department.  The Paralegal will prepare trial binders, deposition indexes, exhibit and witness lists, jury instructions, motions in limine and other pre-trial documents.  He or she will also draft pleadings, motions, subpoenas, appellate pleadings and other documents as assigned.  The Paralegal will be an integral part of the Litigation team, assisting in discovery, trial preparation and strategy development.  He or she will also assist attorneys with the examination under oath process, helping the attorney to prepare, handling logistics, and drafting correspondence to policyholders and attorneys.

    What You’ll Do

    • Assists attorneys in discovery and pre-trial matters under attorney supervision.
    • Assists attorneys in handling assigned case files and delivering other legal services under attorney supervision.
    • Assists attorneys in discovery, pre-trial matters and/or trial preparation.
    • Drafts pleadings, motions, subpoenas, appellate pleadings, and other documents as assigned.
    • Assists in trial preparation and strategy development.
    • Handles scheduling and support of up to three attorneys in busy litigation office.
    • Summarizes and organizes file materials.
    • Performs legal research.

    What You’ll Need to be a Top Candidate

    Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Paralegal Studies, Legal Studies, Business, Insurance, or related field required.  Florida Registered Paralegal certification preferred.

     

    Experience: Minimum of three years’ experience as a paralegal within the Florida state court system, preferably in insurance defense.

     

    Skills & Knowledge:         

    o   Familiarity with tools used by remote employees, as this person will support remote attorneys.

    o   Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

    o   Familiarity with Westlaw and electronic filing of legal documents.

    o   Professional and demonstrates high integrity

    Your Environment

    Working Conditions: Normal business office environment.  Must be able to remain in a stationary position for periods of time while constantly operating a computer and or other office productivity machinery such as a calculator or telephone.  The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery or communicate with coworkers.

     

    Travel: As required.  Must have valid driver’s license.
