Title: Managing Attorney
You'll Report to: VP of Litigation
The Managing Attorney works in with the Vice President of Litigation and the SVP of Claims Services to manage the litigation department of the organization, working to create positive outcomes. He/she will oversee a team of litigation staff including attorney, paralegals, and legal assistants, helping the Vice President to divide caseload, manage deadlines, and coach and develop team members. The Managing Attorney will work in conjunction with the VP and SVP on setting litigation strategy and provide legal input on claim strategy.
Education: Juris Doctorate from an ABA-accredited law school required. Must be a licensed member in good standing of the Florida bar.
Experience: Minimum of seven years’ experience working as a claims attorney, either in a firm setting or corporate counsel, defending personal lines property first party claims on behalf of an insurer. In addition, the preferred candidate will have experience managing attorneys and support staff.
Skills & Knowledge:
Working Conditions: Normal business office environment. Must be able to remain in a stationary position for periods of time while constantly operating a computer and or other office productivity machinery such as a calculator or telephone. The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery or communicate with coworkers.
Travel: Frequent travel throughout the state as required. Must have valid driver’s license.
