Title: Claims Customer Service Representative 

 

The Claims Customer Service Representative (CSR) will be responsible for handling First Notice of Loss inquiries and claims reporting by customers.  The Claims CSR will handle inbound calls from policyholders calling to give their first notice of loss regarding a potential claim.  Working together with the customer service and claims teams, the Claims CSR will work to ensure that the policyholder has a seamless and easy customer experience.

What You’ll Do

 

  • Acts as the first point of customer contact for initiating the claim process, handling significant daily phone volume.
  • Ensures delivery of excellent customer service through fast and accurate processing of notices, communication, and coordinating with other departments to resolve claims.
  • Communicates with customers, agents, and other partners verbally and in writing in a professional manner. 
  • Maintains appropriate documentation on all claim files.
  • Meets company service standards and effectively uses the diary system to remain current.
  • Manages special projects, as assigned, within the established time and quality guidelines.
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining open and trusting working relationships with insureds and other third parties in order to gather pertinent information.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of the position.
  • Additional hours may be required in the event of a catastrophe event (i.e. hurricane).

What You’ll Need to be a Top Candidate

Education: High School Diploma or GED required.  College Degree preferred.

 

Experience: One (1) to three (3) years prior experience as a Claims CSR. 

 

Knowledge: Specific knowledge in a homeowner's insurance and / or additional education would be preferred.

Your Environment

Working Conditions: Normal business office environment.  Must be able to remain in a stationary position for periods of time while constantly operating a computer and or other office productivity machinery such as a calculator or telephone.  The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery or communicate with coworkers.

 

Travel: As required.
