Title: Large Loss Adjuster


The Large Loss Adjuster will plan, recommend, reserve and execute the investigation, valuation, disposition and settlement of complex and/or large property claims in a manner consistent with company claim settlement policies, procedures and statutory, regulatory and ethics requirements as appropriate. The individual in this position will work to achieve fair, equitable and timely claim dispositions and properly assess the indemnity and expense exposure of assigned claims.  He/she will report to the Field Claims Manager and operate in a team environment that will develop and share business knowledge and claim handling expertise with team members and business partners.  In addition, the Large Loss Adjuster should have a strong functional knowledge of claims and be able to appropriately interpret and apply insurance coverage.

What You’ll Do

  • Confirm coverage and identifies / resolves coverage issues. Contacts insured same day as claim is assigned.
  • Conduct proper investigations on cause of loss and procures proper documentation and supporting reports utilizing vendors appropriately. Continually evaluates vendor performance and techniques.
  • Deliver Outcomes – Demonstrate a bias for speed and execution that serves our business partners and customers.
  • Identify and recommend subrogation opportunities.
  • Utilize peer review as needed.
  • Review and process correspondence and takes appropriate and timely action.
  • Assess exposure and sets proper reserves with appropriate notification to management.
  • Communicate with customers, agents, and other partners verbally and in writing in a professional manner.
  • Represent the company as the product coverage and statutory expert for our insureds, agents, and vendors.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation on all claim files and processes claims in a timely manner.
  • Meet company service standards and effectively uses the diary system to remain current.
  • Manage special projects, as assigned, within the established time and quality guidelines.
  • Develop and maintain open and trusting working relationships with policyholders, agents and other third parties in order to gather pertinent information.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

What You’ll Need to be a Top Candidate

Education:  College Degree preferred, or a combination of education and experience.

Experience: Five (5) years prior experience as a property adjuster handling complex property losses in excess of $100,000 in value, preferably with a carrier.

Licensure: State of Florida 520 or 620 License desired.  If you do not have a current Florida adjuster's license, American Integrity will work with you to obtain one during a reasonable amount of time.  Completion of insurance courses such as IIA, AEI, or CPCU preferred.


  • Ability to analyze facts and coverages in order to evaluate damages. 
  • Proven ability in negotiation and investigation required. 
  • Ability to communicate interpersonally with individuals and groups via telephone and in writing. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of technical / professional / consumer clients. 
  • Microsoft Windows and Office Suite. 
  • Familiarity with industry claims systems and property estimating systems, Xactimate preferred.

  • Disciplined time management and organizational skills and ability to function in a self-reliant manner
  • Availability for catastrophe operations as necessary
  • Travel to loss locations within the state that may require overnight or extended stays as needed to complete his/her duties

Your Environment

Working Conditions: Normal business office environment.  Must be able to remain in a stationary position for periods of time while constantly operating a computer and or other office productivity machinery such as a calculator or telephone.  The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery or communicate with coworkers.  The employee must occasionally lift and / or move up to 10 pounds.  During field work, this employee is also regularly exposed to outdoor weather conditions.  During field work the employee is exposed to work in areas of height, small spaces, and fumes or airborne particles and may occassionally be exposed to toxic of caustic chemicals.  The field work noise level is usually moderate.

Travel: Field travel as required.
